Hot oven + Carter = upset mommy

So last Wednesday was pretty eventful at our house. It wasn't the eventful that I liked, but I guess we cant always get what we want right. And little boys will be little boys! With that said, after Carter tried out for Batman, he also tried out for the movie 'the little boy who tries to find out how things work'.

(The following all happened within 90 seconds)

I was putting clothes in the washer, while also trying to make supper.

Carter decided to plug in the toaster oven next to the washer.

This was while I ran into the kitchen to grab supper out of the freezer and turn on the oven.

I left knowing that it wasn't plugged in, and suddenly I heard him screaming, so I ran to see what was happening (leaving the freezer open).

He had plugged in the toaster oven, turned it on (which he normally would do but it was always unplugged), and stuck his fingers inside.

I get to the scene, and notice that it is on and freak out, so he cries even more.

He runs to his comfort spot (the recliner which had his blanket).

I get peas and put on his hand, before noticing how bad it was.

Call my mom freaking out, she tells me to put cold water.

I get him into the bath he is now fine. I survey the damage....OUCH

There is the damage!
Grandma shows up, and says wow not as bad as you explained.
He gets out of the tub, and gets to have a band-aid, oh but wait he gets like 10 band-aids.
Then acts like he has just cut his finger off. Well it does look really bad I agree.
After getting to sit in the recliner while eating supper, getting to ride the four-wheeler for an hour, and getting everything he wanted, he was playing but giving some special attention to his hand!

This is where the oven used to be (call us bad parents OK, but it was never plugged in)

"Hot Hot Hot"

And that is where the oven now resides!
We may be bad parents, but we are learning from our mistakes!
I'll try to get pictures of his hand now that it is scabbing over.
